MaslenI was propitious with my purcase of the Astron CP9580 UNTIL I tried to do the setup which would allow the AutoScanner And CP9580 to upload the units memory results to my PC and print them. I have an intermitent MIL and I longing to keep a hard copy of the data for several weeks. The problem with the CP9580 occurred when I tried to inaugurate the PC drivers that come with their Scanning Suite 3.0. software which I had downloaded from the Actron (SPX Corp) web place. Installing the software driver enables the CP9580 to communicate with a PC via the USB hawser provided with the unit. Communication with a PC is also a function necessary to perform on-employ c queue up updates for the CP9580's internal database. M/S Windows XP Pro (SP3) did not recognize the drivers. I did completely coax Windows to install a generic USB/COM port driver but this driver did not travail either. Hi, I deliver assign to just about every reveiw I could find on OBDll scanners. I was ready to buy the Innova 3160, but didn't like the part about charging $14.99 for improvement info. Then I got a email for a discount on the Actron 9580, very good negotiation or call me cheap. So I bought the Actron 9580 with code connect with the software problems per every reassess I had read, but before I bought it I called Actron Tech support and was told that their was no delinquent. Well after about three hours of trying to down load their Actron Launch Pad with no luck, their is an cause c. Then I find out that if their is not a Code Connect answer to the given code they charge you for the defence. The scanner has worked fine on every car I have used it on, and is easy to use. Hopefuly they will get the software consequence fixed so you can update your scanner and print out the info from the scanner. But for the scraping of a few bucks I wish I would have gone with The Innova 3160 for about fifty more dollars.
Most beneficent DIY Scanner on the Market
After looking at scanners for several years, I decisively decided to buy this one because it seemed to have the most usable features (including live data, graphing, recording, etc.) and also had the sui generis "Code Connect" feature for reporting the most likely fixes that industry for specific makes and models based on a large reported & verified patch database. I was not disappointed. So far, the "top reported fixes" for the detected trouble codes and means model have been the ones which really worked on my own car and on friends' cars that I repaired. Although some reviewers exact that the Code Connect may not work well for certain car models which had very limited direction numbers, it worked well for my repairs which included a Toyota Echo which was not a very run-of-the-mill model. Despite the fact that Code Connect is usually equity on target with its fixes, a few of the fixes that come up would almost never work and look rather drip and unrelated to the trouble codes. Steep, but a full featured deviceWhat a clever product . Pulls codes quickly with a modest description of principles. In addition, it shows various sensor data(rpm, voltage, positions, temps, tons, etc...)and other various on board data that would normally require you to go to a masterly shop for. I bought this actron since I was having a problem with my rear O2 sensor in one of my vehicles, which was constantly pulling 2 codes for that sensor. Initially i was resetting it hoping it was a glitch, since i wasn't in any feeling ready to buy a rear O2 & lift the car to replace it. Well luckily with the scanner, i observed that the voltages were unmoving under all conditions. Now this was strange since the voltages dictate the exhaust temperature. The front O2 was showing varying voltages under rare loads. well, to make a long story short it turns out that the sensor wiring was frayed requiring an tranquil splice. Works no every car I tried it on 1996 HHR, 1997 Evade Caraven, 2008 Honda Civic, 2006 Ford Mustang GT, 1996 VW Jetta. Relevant in a timely manner and read the codes no problem. The live observations feature separates it from a basic reader and is very useful to diagnose how the machine is is functioning. Bottom line is it's worth the money and it does what it claims, as advertised.
Take heed of the Actron ScanLoader Software
I have had a almost identical experience to that of other user's who had connection problems. I downloaded the Actron Scanning Series software and tried to update the tool. This is a mistake - I would highly commend you do not load this software on your PC. It does not work properly with Win XP (unsigned drivers, for one). The software insult up permanently disabling my scanner. The people at Actron are no help - their only warning was to return the unit now that the Scanning Suite software had disabled the gimmick. The software is essentially poorly written from both a user interface and a computer equipment connection point of view - terrible systems engineering here. It's like something written in the mid-1980's by inception programmers. I'll try again using the scanner but will *never* try to use this software again. I suspect Actron is well informed of this weakness but doesn't know how to fix the problem - surprising ineptitude for such a unrestrained b generally company.
