Costly, but a full featured deviceWhat a important product . Pulls codes quickly with a modest description of patterns. In addition, it shows various sensor data(rpm, voltage, positions, temps, tons, etc...)and other various on board data that would normally require you to go to a skilful shop for. I bought this actron since I was having a problem with my rear O2 sensor in one of my vehicles, which was dependably pulling 2 codes for that sensor. Initially i was resetting it hoping it was a glitch, since i wasn't in any spirit to buy a rear O2 & lift the car to replace it. Well luckily with the scanner, i observed that the voltages were still under all conditions. Now this was strange since the voltages dictate the exhaust temperature. The front O2 was showing varying voltages under assorted loads. well, to make a long story short it turns out that the sensor wiring was frayed requiring an effortless splice.The advantage of knowing on board sensor data is far cured than just pulling codes... Be cautious of the Actron ScanLoader Software
I have had a comparable experience to that of other user's who had connection problems. I downloaded the Actron Scanning Number software and tried to update the tool. This is a mistake - I would highly recommend you do not pack this software on your PC. It does not work properly with Win XP (unsigned drivers, for one). The software injure up permanently disabling my scanner. The people at Actron are no help - their only admonition was to return the unit now that the Scanning Suite software had disabled the logotype. The software is essentially poorly written from both a user interface and a machinery connection point of view - terrible systems engineering here. It's like something written in the mid-1980's by creation programmers. I'll try again using the scanner but will *never* try to use this software again. Works no every car I tried it on 1996 HHR, 1997 Device Caraven, 2008 Honda Civic, 2006 Ford Mustang GT, 1996 VW Jetta. Relevant in a timely manner and read the codes no problem. The live observations feature separates it from a basic reader and is very useful to diagnose how the machine is is functioning. Bottom line is it's worth the money and it does what it claims, as advertised.

P. L. MaslenI was pleased with my purcase of the Astron CP9580 UNTIL I tried to do the setup which would allow the AutoScanner Plus CP9580 to upload the units thought results to my PC and print them. I have an intermitent MIL and I want to keep a hard copy of the figures for several weeks. The problem with the CP9580 occurred when I tried to install the PC drivers that leak out with their Scanning Suite 3.0. software which I had downloaded from the Actron (SPX Corp) web milieu. Installing the software driver enables the CP9580 to communicate with a PC via the USB rope provided with the unit. Communication with a PC is also a function necessary to perform on-in alignment updates for the CP9580's internal database. M/S Windows XP Pro (SP3) did not recognize the drivers. I did definitively coax Windows to install a generic USB/COM port driver but this driver did not profession either. I am familiar with PCs and drivers thru my profession and this installing procedure is not rocket body of laws when you have the correct driver. I...

Hi,I pore over just about every reveiw I could find on OBDll scanners. I was ready to buy the Innova 3160, but didn't like the part about charging $14.99 for nick info. Then I got a email for a discount on the Actron 9580, very good handle or call me cheap. So I bought the Actron 9580 with code connect with the software problems per every rethinking I had read, but before I bought it I called Actron Tech support and was told that their was no puzzler. Well after about three hours of trying to down load their Actron Launch Pad with no luck, their is an outlet. Then I find out that if their is not a Code Connect answer to the given code they charge you for the undertake responsibility for.The scanner has worked fine on every car I have used it on, and is easy to use. Hopefuly they will get the software end fixed so you can update your scanner and print out the info from the scanner.But for the economy of a few bucks I wish I would have gone with The Innova 3160 for about fifty more dollars.
Worst DIY Scanner on the Market
After looking at scanners for several years, I for all time decided to buy this one because it seemed to have the most usable features (including live data, graphing, recording, etc.) and also had the solitary "Code Connect" feature for reporting the most likely fixes that business for specific makes and models based on a large reported & verified put back in database. I was not disappointed. So far, the "top reported fixes" for the detected trouble codes and means model have been the ones which really worked on my own car and on friends' cars that I repaired. Relaxed to use trouble code reader at great priceAs a plot mechanic I was frustrated with the new cars and the check engine light that results in a $60 action to read at a garage. Now that the price of a reader is less than $80 it makes sense to try the Equus Innova 3030 car reader and I was fortunate I did. It works great and is easy to use but does have a minor problem I discovered. My Subaru would not impart with the 3030. The tech support phone line was tied up, but they with dispatch responded to my email and sent me a new Innova 3030 with a new chip set. Ostensibly Subarus, Mazdas and Volkswagons tend to have a problem in communication and in this protection require a newer chip set in the 3030 which apparently works on all brands (I checked my Honda and toyota OK), so if you have one of the former car brands ask for the newer whittle set. The manual has one misprint and the key must be turned to on position before plugging the 3030 into the car. Tech assist at the website was great and called back later. I had already saved $60...

Recently the "Investigate Engine" light illuminated on the dashboard of my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, and I old this as an excuse to purchase a code reader. I chose the Equus 3030 based on bounty, richness of user interface, and sophistication of the company's website (Innova).I was not looking for a serious-end tool, with battery-backed up memory and an internal list of code similes. Ideally, I will seldom use this tool, and using the manual (or even better, the company's website) to look up codes works skilful for me. So I have to write down the code on a piece of paper, and take that to my computer, rather than the unit remembering it for me.
