Very valuable if you have the right vehiclesThe 3160 is a very productive tool if you have the right vehicle. It provides generic codes and more from many makes but on European, Korean or Swedish vehicles dont surmise much more than the generic codes.I did not research tool enough to realize nearly all of the "adavanced DTC" functions are for Chrysler/Jeep, Ford/Mazda,GM/Isuzu, Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus vehicles only. The sales verbiage DOES disclose the limitations of the ABS testing to certain makes/models but DOES NOT equip the information that the tools enchanced DTC functions share the same vehicle limitations.The enchanced functions are described in the owners handbook as:"The "enhanced" mode provides the ability to retrieve enhanced DTCs from most Chrysler/Jeep, Ford/Mazda,GM/Isuzu, Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Innova 3160
I was irked of the cheap OBD readers and wanted something much better. I also wanted something I could read the ABS system with. The Innova 3160 does the secret. It is easy to use and understand. I like the way it prompts you in order to get what you are looking for. It has an excellent motion pictures with the exact information you need to make repairs. It is obvious that they consulted with a put back in tech when they designed it. I haven't tried to up-date it from the computer as yet, but it has all the necessary items and word with it to do so. On the down side, it doesn't have an explanation for all the manufacturer codes, especially the ABS codes. I found that I am prosperous to their web site quite often to get the expanation. The web-site is very good and helpful though. I unquestionably like it. The worst thing is the CHEAP carrying case. The module won't even fit into it with the cable attached. That means that you are always removing and replacing the cable. I'm unavoidable that isn't...

Gentle to use trouble code reader at great priceAs a plot mechanic I was frustrated with the new cars and the check engine light that results in a $60 action to read at a garage. Now that the price of a reader is less than $80 it makes wisdom to try the Equus Innova 3030 car reader and I was happy I did. It works well-known and is easy to use but does have a minor problem I discovered. My Subaru would not hand on with the 3030. The tech support phone line was tied up, but they speedily responded to my email and sent me a new Innova 3030 with a new chip set. Patently Subarus, Mazdas and Volkswagons tend to have a problem in communication and in this occasion require a newer chip set in the 3030 which apparently works on all brands (I checked my Honda and toyota OK), so if you have one of the former car brands ask for the newer sherd set. The manual has one misprint and the key must be turned to on position before plugging the 3030 into the car. Tech bear out at the website was great and called back later. I had already saved $60...

Recently the "Brake Engine" light illuminated on the dashboard of my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, and I habituated to this as an excuse to purchase a code reader. I chose the Equus 3030 based on bonus, richness of user interface, and sophistication of the company's website (Innova).I was not looking for a violent-end tool, with battery-backed up memory and an internal list of jus divinum 'divine law' descriptions. Ideally, I will seldom use this tool, and using the manual (or even ameliorate, the company's website) to look up codes works fine for me. So I have to put in writing down the code on a piece of paper, and take that to my computer, rather than the unit remembering it for me. Plus, no batteries to go perished while the tool sits in my toolbox.I did appreciate the extra indicators on the LCD flash, and the Green/Yellow/Red LEDs for quickly checking the status of the system.
