Three City Modes and Highway Condition
Highway mode provides full audio and visual warning of laser/radar systems while maintaining full tenderness. Highway mode is the default setting of all Whistler's laser/radar detectors. See mode helps reduce the annoyance of automatic door openers and cat burglar alarm alerts by providing an initial alert (same distance as Highway Technique), then remaining quiet unless the signal strength becomes very strong. When the timer increases, the unit will alert briefly to notify you of the change in timer strength.
Quiet/Auto Quiet Modes
Pressing Noiseless before a signal is detected engages Auto Quiet Mode, which impulsively reduces the audio level after the initial warning to a low audio bulldoze setting. Pressing QUIET during a radar/laser encounter silences audio alerts, while allowing visual alerts to keep you cultivated.
Alert Priority
When two or more signals are received at the same time, the alert predominance is: Laser, VG-2, Speed Radar, Safety Radar.
Example: If X band is alerting, then all of a sudden a VG-2 signal is detected, the VG-2 warning will override the X band alert.
Means Battery Saver Mode
The Vehicle Battery Saver State automatically shuts off your detector within three hours if you forget to turn it off. The timer is reset if the detector is turned off or unplugged, or any handle is pressed before the six hours have expired. The detector will alert you with an audible and visual indication before it shuts off.
Patented VG-2 Cloaking Technology
The VG-2, also known as a "radar detector detector," is a bizarre receiver used by police to detect signals radiated by a radar detector. The XTR-330 alerts you its poise, and thanks to Whistler's patented VG-2 cloaking technology, it also provides undetectability.

Dazzling cost/performance detectorI was darned skeptical about the performance of a $40 detector, but after a few recent road trips, I am convinced this is indeed a well functioning product. Although it does not have exceptional filtering ability for deceitful signals, it can still give you enough X/K/Ka warning for you to slow down in time.The two blue LED's are a great invention, because you can easily see them out of the corner of your eye. This is extremely useful when your radio drowns out the audible signals, or when the sun washes out the foremost letter warning lights.You simply can't go wrong with the price. It does not have the features of the top of the tailback detectors (coiled power cord, voice alert, subject-matter readout, settings save, compass, etc), yet it has at its core the most important article: the basic detection ability to provide enough warning for the driver.

i purchased the xtr 140 and it has been glaring so far, from what ive read the 330 has voice alerts and thats the only main dissimilarity. higher end radars have alot more features (compass, volt meter, aarows, pop detection etc) but none of that matters to me, i honourable wanted a radar detector that works. usually i find myself drifting 12 or so mph over the posted limit in the town and it gives me plenty of time to stop. besides a blip of ka when i pass a walgreens or cvs (if you are cutting at the doors its a full alert) the city 2 mode is pretty quiet. then again i can only hear the radar when it goes off with the radio on so the lights come in handy to get my attentioni bought the 140 pattern because it was cheap but still accurate. i really dont care about a 3-4 mile register of detection because with instant off and instant on even a v1 cant save you if you are alone on the road. no one uses POP radar and im not prospering to pay another $50 for a feature im not going to use, and...

As agreeable as units twice the price
I recently took a 400 mile horses corral trip with my Cobra and I was very pleased in fact it saved me twice from getting a $180 ticket so it more than paid for it self two times over. Factitious alerts are very rare and it's very obvious by the strength that it's from a store. On a straight run on the highway I get about a two mile or more augury. On hills and curves that is cut down quite a bit but still enough time to slow down. I love the surprisingly features like the compass and intellimute. The usb port for the gps module is consequential to have if I ever want red light camera capability. The size is a little longer that other radar detectors but the suction cup mount seems stronger that the $350 Guide I had and the unit does not shake like the Escort did. The coiled line is nice and is a perfect length for my car. A long straight cord is accessible if anyone needs that.Overall I'm very happy with the Cobra. It looks great and works outstanding. Troopers Collect Your MatchI purchased this radar segment for my Hummer H2. I am very familiar with radar being a commercial pilot. I've owned radar detecting materiel off and on for 32 years. This is the most sophisticated highly sensitive unit I've owned and its hands down to set up and operate. Its mounted on my dash since I cant reach the windshield from the drivers base. The radar detector performs great. It has many features to reduce false alerts. I like the intellimute countenance. It senses your RPMS and mutes the sound up to a preset RPM that you have entered, added to speed alerts you can preset. Mine is set at 75. It will chime and says "aid alert" if speed is exceeded, very handy and shows your speed when alerting. It has picked up state troopers in burgh blocks away, plenty of time to adjust your speed. The cover is visable in bright daylight, but I use the blackout feature which it goes evil after a preset time you enter but it will light back up upon a radar/gps signal. I can recall the last radar detector I had was a Cobra. They sure have come a long ways since the sustained strip of red lights that would increase in increments when a signal was detected. The remarkably features I find the most helpful is the GPS Locator, the low battery warning and the speed for. We have a rebuilt 1984 Mustang drag car that is street legal and the speedometer is not nice. Using the speed indicator on the radar detector has been extremely helpful to keep an eye on our speeds.
